Great book using common culinary herbs & spices – EZ & tasy Recipes, October 26, 2010
    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

An enjoyable book. It contains recipes for herbal waters, honey, vinegars, oils, cordials, pesto, facial masks, bath and foot soaks and more using common kitchen herbs and spices. Most of the recipes are easy and don’t use exotic ingredients but items you already have in your spice rack. The front portion of the book contains a materia medica describing the properties of 50 healing herbs and spices–listing how they’re used and even how to grow them in your garden. This book will help you to return health and nurturing back to to your family from the comfort of your kitchen. My family is going to be treated to gifts of inspired blackberry cordials this holiday season!

Who Knew? So Many Useful Herbs in My Pantry, February 10, 2011

An excellent herbal introduction. A more detailed index would have been very useful as it’s difficult for a novice to remember which of the 50 herbs are, for example, rubefacients or emmenagogues. However, it’s the recipes that are so amazing. I can’t believe how delicious dried orange peels are and how easy (especially with the Gardenmaster food dehydrator I purchased from Amazon last year). I’ll be making cordials, pesto, flavored honey in many cases from spices and herbs I already have on hand. Having the recipes gives me a starting point and hopefully I will be able to customize my own herbal mixtures.

Kami McBride is a seasoned herbalist. I studied under her and she is an expert in herbal home care. Her classes changed my life. Much of the information I learned in her classes is included in this book. This book is packed with herbal remedies for home and family. I have made her ghee recipe for years, it is excellent and it saves money making your own. I cook with ghee and use it in place of butter. Try her dandelion root coffee, it is delicious. Learn about herbs and simple recipes to keep yourself and your family well.
